Personal Identifiable Information (“PII”)
PII refers to information about an individual but does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.  Pursuant to our obligations to identify our clients at Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation, upon retaining us, you will be asked to provide photo identification (drivers’ license / passport /residency card etc.).  We will retain a copy of your photo ID on file within our system.

Collection & Use of Personal Information
We collect and use personal information from individuals or organizations for the purpose of providing legal services, to render accounts, carry out conflict searches and to provide services or information to our clients.  While we are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of all information that we receive pursuant to the solicitor/client relationship, in certain circumstances we may be required to disclose it.

We may collect other information about your assets directly from you or from other professionals such as your financial advisor/wealth planner and accountant.  No information will be obtained from your professionals without your express consent which shall be in writing, oral and sometimes implied. We will not store or retain personal account numbers.  Sometimes your consent may be implied through your conduct with us or the nature of our retainer.  Our ability to serve you and provide the legal services that require your consent, may impact our ability to serve you and to maintain our relationship.

Marketing Activities
From time to time, we may use your email contact information to issue marketing materials to you or to distribute information about our services, our firm, and about legal issue and updates generally.  You will always have the option of opting out of receiving these updates and information at which point you will be removed from our distribution list.

Third Party Disclosure
Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation will not disclose your personal information to third parties unless:

  • you have provided consent to the disclosure;
  • where we are required to do so by law or by court order; OR
  • such third-party provides services to Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation and is also bound to the Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation Privacy Policy (e.g. law firms, technology services, expert witnesses)

Your consent to disclose your information to a third party may be implied in certain circumstances, particularly when the legal services we have been retained to provide to you requires disclosure.

Security
Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation has taken precautionary measures to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorized access, modification and disclosure.

E-mail/Fax/Courier/Mail
We prefer to use e-mail communication with our clients during the course of an engagement.  E-mail however is not a guaranteed secure forum and you should refrain from sending us personal identity information over e-mail.  Personal information communicated, delivered or transferred physically by mail, courier or electronically via facsimile, email or telephone may be subject to interception, reproduction or unauthorized use.  We do not encrypt any form of electronic communication including e-mail.  We are unable to prevent, and assume no liability for, any damages suffered by you in the event your personal information is intercepted, copied, or otherwise made public while being transferred or exchanged in any form of physical delivery or electronic communication.

Client Portal
Clients who have retained Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation will receive access to a secure online client portal within our licensed software system which will allow you to share confidential information with us securely.

Request For Personal Information
At any time, you may request a full report of personal information held by Bahl Law Firm Professional Corporation about you. Detailed requests which require archive or other retrieval costs may be subject to our normal professional and disbursement fees. Your rights to access your personal information are not absolute.  There are a number of situations where we may deny access.  If we deny your request for access to, or refuse a request to correct personal information, we will provide a reason or reasons for doing so.
